For those attending the Service:
Ann Sophie was a loving daughter to Anja and Hans, a caring sister to Luis, a wonderful caretaker to Eddy (her adorable brown labrador), and a fierce friend to so many lucky individuals.
Ann Sophie grew up in Maida Vale London. She attended St Christina’s Primary School and then moved to Queens College London for the rest of her higher education.
Ann Sophie continued her further education at Bath University, studying BSc (Hons) in International Development with Economics. She was highly driven to study this course given her ambition to further the cause of sustainability. This also motivated her to work as a Sustainability Intern at Hunkemöller, in Amsterdam, during her placement year. She was also due to start as a Sustainability Graduate at the Financial Conduct Authority, in London, in October 2023. Beyond studying, she was a very active member of the student community getting involved in many societies and charitable causes such as the swim team, the Raising and Giving Society, and chairing CoppaFeel (breast cancer awareness charity), just to name a few.
Ann Sophie also had a diverse range of passions and hobbies. At the forefront of this was her love for swimming. She was a keen and successful backstroker, achieving a number of regional medals as well as competing in the English Summer Championships. Alongside the numerous medals won, she also won the hearts of each and every swimmer and coach that had the pleasure and privilege to train and compete alongside her.
Selflessness, empathy, and true altruism were just some of Ann Sophie’s traits that contributed to her passion for charity. In her gap year, she not only nannied in France to work on her French, but she also spent 2 months in Nepal as a Community Development Worker, where she worked with local communities to improve living conditions and help build irrigation systems and other vital facilities. A constant giver, Ann Sophie was determined to make the world a better place for everyone; she played an active role in multiple charities at University, as well as raising money for Mind, a mental health and wellbeing charity.
She was a keen explorer at heart, grasping every opportunity to travel to new regions, learn about new cultures and meet people from around the world. Being brave and fearless were values that Ann Sophie embodied, and she inspired everyone she met to join her.
Where ever life took Ann Sophie, she brought with her an infectious aura of positivity and compassion for those around her. She was such an important part of every friendship group that she walked into, of which there are many. Her genuine spirit and kindness made her a gold standard that everyone strived to achieve, yet this would come so naturally to her. Each and every person she knew was so proud to be able to say she was a friend.
