We want to thank everyone who has been there for us since Chris’s tragic and unexpected death. Your kind messages, calls, food, amazing support and beautiful flowers have been a comfort. We would like to invite you to share your memories of Chris on this tribute page and to attend Chris’s funeral service online on the 30th of October at 15:15 (find the link on this page). Unfortunately, due to coronavirus measures, we are not all able to gather in person but we have the opportunity to get together virtually via an online funeral. Once the restrictions have been lifted, we will hold a celebration of Chris’s life and his work. We look forward to sharing memories and grieving our loss together.
With much love,
Stefania, Michael, Harry and Tom and Zoe.
On Tuesday 15th of September just after 6.30 pm, Christopher Michael Greene died in a tragic accident leaving us, his family, and everyone who knew and loved him, shocked and grieving. Chris was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on 15th February 1960, and grew up there, one of 5 siblings. From an early age, he showed a talent and a passion for drawing and went on to study Fine Art at Tufts University MA, University of Boston. It was in Boston that he met his future British wife Abbie, and shortly after in 1984 he moved to London and they had two children, Harry and Tom. Later on, Chris met Stefania and they fell in love and in 1995 they had a son, Michael. Since then they shared their life together as a family with Michael and Stefania’s daughter Zoe. Chris was a loving and devoted father to all of his three sons, who were very important to him, as well as to Zoe.
Chris pursued his career as an artist and leaves behind a body of work, a testament to his talent as a painter and skillful draftsman. Ranging in size from large scale canvases to smaller, more intimate pieces and works on paper, Chris explored themes that keenly interested him throughout his life. His unique, thought-provoking and subversive work will be remembered for its astute observations including an ability to shock and amuse.
Chris was a loyal friend, funny, kind, generous and always full of ideas, along with a continuous stream of newly discovered theories and suppositions! He played the piano, composed music, wrote lyrics and was amazingly strong and handsome and from being quite explosive and impulsive when young, he became much more tolerant and reflective in later years. He especially loved nature and the countryside, adored walking and riding his old bike.
Chris was very much loved and will be greatly missed by us and his family in America, and by all who had the good fortune to know him.
With much love,
Stefania, Michael, Harry and Tom and Zoe.
