Obituary

About Geoff's Life

Geoff passed away on 5th July 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Croydon to James and Jane Arnold.

He started work as a telegram boy for the GPO before becoming a postman. He then became a delivery driver for LR Humphries.  He was quickly promoted  to warehouse / transport manager. He stayed with them for many years and he considered his staff as his extended family. He was made redundant. He took a number of jobs before becoming transport / distribution manager at Goldstar Publications (Ann Summers). He liked to have a laugh with people and this job gave him plenty of opportunity to do so. He eventually moved to Blakes Paper Merchants before again being made redundant. He then became a self employed delivery driver before taking retirement.

During his time with the GPO he joined the Territorial Army where he trained as a bridge instructor before becoming a chef. He used this skill to set up his own catering company. We sampled his cuisine at numerous family events.

He was introduced to the Masons through is brother  where they spent many enjoyable years attending meetings, Ladies Festivals and raising money for  numerous charities. Even in his latter years, he was very involved with St Christopher’s Hospice, helping to raise money for them, who in return provided both him and Sue with much needed care and support.

He was a true gentleman who loved having his family and friends around him. He worked hard throughout his life to provide his family with the best.
