We're Available 24/7Cheshunt Cemetery is owned and maintained by the Borough of Broxbourne. Members of the public are required to make an appointment if they wish to visit the office, as the cemetery staff may not always be available. The original 6 acre cemetery, known as ‘the old cemetery’, opened in 1855 as an extension to St Mary’s Churchyard.
The first extension occurred in 1929 to the west of Dark Lane. Two Grade II listed buildings are in the cemetery grounds: The Chapel and The Lodge, both of which are decorative, early Gothic style structures.
New graves at Cheshunt Cemetery can be dug for 1+ internments, allowing future burials in the same grave.
Grave leases are provided from 100 years, with extensions usually available from the cemetery.
Anyone can be buried at Cheshunt Cemetery, but grave prices depend on residency. Lower resident rates typically apply to families living in Enfield, with higher fees for non-residents. Residency rules are complex so please check with your funeral arranger.
