Hale Cemetery opened on 4 December 1894 on Hale Road in Altrincham and is one of Trafford's smaller and older burial grounds. No new burial plots are available; the cemetery accepts only the re-opening of existing family graves. The working chapel at Hale Cemetery is unique among Trafford's burial-only sites in still being in active use for funeral services. It serves not only Hale burials but is also used by families burying at Sale, Stretford, and Urmston cemeteries, making it the borough's secondary chapel hub alongside the Altrincham Crematorium.
Anyone can be buried at Hale Cemetery, but grave prices depend on residency. Lower resident rates typically apply to families living in Trafford, with higher fees for non-residents. Residency rules are complex so please check with your funeral arranger.
