In Loving Memory
The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to all, for the prayers, support, comforting messages, calls, flowers, cards and gifts during this time of bereavement and an extended thank you to those who came to visit Americo during his time of Ill health.
The family would like to thank his friends that have been his support system over the years and the carers and St Luke’s hospice for all their help.
Should you wish to send flowers, the family kindly requests white blooms, as they are a symbol of peace and reverence.
Please could you not wear black, instead White or Navy or even a colour of your choice. Americo hated black.
Americo Sousa born in Portugal and lived the past 30 years in London, Kingsbury -sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease. Even during his ill health Americo smiled, prayed and continued to be full of character.
Americo was a kind harmless loving soul, whom helped whenever he could. He never judged and always welcome and accepted everyone. He brought laughter and memories to everyone around him.
We will remember him for his strength and perseverance and admire his courage to continue life through many hardships, not just illness. He is and always will be an example of a pure heart, a good man and the kindest human. We should all look to Americo for guidance when we feel the world is on our shoulders, and be sure he will bring a smile to your face.

My deepest condolences to Pauola & Isabella at the loss of their dear Brother Americo❤️ It was a short time in which to meet & get to know him, only to have to say goodbye. However I feel privileged to have had that special time with him. He was a very precious soul, tender, sincere, & caring. Such qualities we all must seek to secure on our time here on earth What a joyous place heaven will be. Take comfort in knowing that his suffering was not in vain . Sr. Geraldine ❤️
Thank you Geraldine for your love and support. Americo and ourselves are very touched by your presence and appreciate you very much
I’ve known Américo since I was a little kid, through my mum, Maria. Growing up, he was always there – helping my mum, helping us, helping our whole family. He wasn’t just a family friend; he was family. A brother. A best friend. Someone who will always have a place in our hearts and our memories. It’s incredibly sad that he’s gone, but his memory will live on forever with all of us. I’ll always remember the good times we shared – the barbecues, the family celebrations, the birthdays. I can still see him dancing and singing Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys, full of life and joy. Those are memories I will cherish forever. I love you, Américo. Now you’re in a better place, reunited with my mum, watching over us from heaven. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:26 “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” – John 16:22 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheners me.” – Philippians 4:13 Love you always, Américo. .rest in peace. Meu irmão meu amigo minha família linda Eddie
Hello Americo P. Sousa, As I would always call you Americo Sousa and just like that, you’d smile. That smile of yours healed so many. Despite everything you were going through, you always wore it with such grace. I remember the first time I was called to care for you. I was nervous unsure of who I’d meet or what to expect. Then you arrived, and everything began. The moment I saw you, we both smiled and just like that, my heart was at peace. I thought to myself, He smiled… that’s a good start. Let’s see what tomorrow brings. But your smile never faded. It became a light steady, kind, and full of strength that kept us all going. There were days I’d find you a little grumpy, and I’d call out your name loud and clear: “Americo!” You’d nod and say, “Today wasn’t an easy day.” Sometimes, you’d talk to me while holding on my hand with a heavy heart. I’d quickly gather myself and say, “Let’s escape from all this stress let me take you out tonight!” You’d laugh and reply, “That’s not possible.” And I’d say, “Of course it is!” Then you’d flash that warm smile and give me your big laugh the kind that lifted the whole room. I always admired how you managed to smile, even when things were tough. That was real strength. You always had something meaningful to say. I’ll never forget how you’d point at the little angel on your wall and say, “That’s you you’re the angel.” Those words stayed with me. You made people feel valued, loved, and seen. To Paula and Isabel your love and care were unmatched to your brother . You gave up so much to be there for your brother. Every single day, without fail, you stood by him. Not everyone in this world would do that but you did, and you did it beautifully. With patience, dedication, and endless love. You wanted nothing but the best for him . You were not just caregivers you were his protectors, his support, his constant light. Thank you for everything. You both embodied what true family means. . The journey was far from easy, but your strength was inspiring. To the entire family, I send my deepest and most heartfelt condolences. Americo was one of a kind. I hope you find peace and comfort in the love and memories he left with each of us. I’ll always remember the special days we shared laughing in the kitchen, eating together, bonding. You welcomed me with open arms. Isabel and Paula, Thank you so much I really appreciate, it really meant a lot . And Isabel our Posh Lady, the best chef herself, Paula and I used to call you that, and you’d try not to laugh, giving us that little side-eye… then burst out laughing anyway. And we’d all laugh with you. No matter how heavy the days were, you never let the light go out. And to the entire team who cared for Americo thank you. Your kindness, dedication, and compassion made such a difference. Job well done. If I had to describe Americo properly, I don’t think I could. There simply aren’t enough words invented to describe you best. Americo, rest well. Rest softly. We’re heartbroken, but we believe you’re in a better, peaceful place now free from pain. And one thing I know for sure we now have a guardian angel. Forever in our hearts, Rest, dear friend. (With love, MT – Night Care)
Américo words cannot express how greatfull I am to have had you in my life, to have met a Angel in person with the most kindest smile and a true pure heart. I met you when I was a little as my stepdad, you were the funniest most caring man and you always made my mum happy, you both would laugh, dance, playing like two teenagers in love and that warmed my heart forever. You had the chance in your last days to meet my children and I will forever be thankful for the love and kindness you showed them and how happy they made you feel, I will share your stories with them and always keep your spirit alive. You are now free and together with your loved ones up in the high heavens. God made you his angel to look down on us and always protect us. I can see you and my mum dancing in heaven together both happy and free. I will always love you , please take care of my mum, your angel , i miss you both. Love your daughter Leila and grandchildren
Send beautiful flowers in memory of Americo Tomas.
