I have so many happy memories of times we spent with Adam, he was my son-in-law and we spent many special holidays all around the world. You will be sadly missed Adam. Thinking of you all at this sad time. Love Mum/Grandma.

Saying goodbye to my dear friend….words cannot sum him up…..a large man who was at times larger than life. Mate you will be missed and I am sure never be forgotten.

So very sad, a great loss. Adam was quite unique a very sociable & generous man who leaves a very large hole. Fortunately, our fond memories of him live on. My first experience of meeting Adam was in the 1970’s at the annual Old Shootershillians vs Old Colfeans Boxing day rugby match. Vigorously contested despite hangovers & generally culminating in an OC’s win! Adam gracious as ever insisted the losers bought the beers. It was much later we became friends when we introduced our sons to mini rugby at Blackheath RFC. Adam’s ‘advice’ on how 6 year olds should play the game by shouting from the touchline soon got him sucked into 10 years of Sunday full time coaching. He with a few more ‘old Dads’ were able to teach the young players sporting skills most notably how to enjoy a rugby tour. I’d tell you more but….’what goes on tour stays on tour’! Many a happy social evening has been spent with Karen & Adam, our hearts go out to the family.. x

A truly larger than life guy and an amazing person. We had so much fun in the early days of AMS, memories I will always treasure. Rest in peace you great guy.

We were so sad and shocked to hear that Adam has died. We first met Adam through Blackheath Mini rugby and have been pleased to meet up with him over the nearly 30 years since then.  Our sincerest condolences go to Karen, Joe, Charlie and Rosie.  With our love, Jane, Steve, Will and Emma Howlett xxxx

I’m saddened to hear the news of Adam’s passing. I met Adam via Karen in London in the very early days around 1982-83. He was always up for a beer and a chat and a laugh. He had my mum doing a haka in his local pub. She didn’t actually know a haka but made it up using NZ Maori city and town names. Later, I enjoyed his many stories about his rugby tours around New Zealand. And that’s when he discovered the haka wasn’t a real one. Lots of laughs all around. Love and hugs to the family. You are in my thoughts.

There was only ever one AY. Well, actually there were several….. Adam, the ballsy entrepreneur Adam, the tenacious negotiator Adam, the ultimate party animal and Adam, the staunch friend and ally, no matter what. I never knew which of the first three might turn up, but the last one was never in doubt. You are and always will be, an AMS Legend. RIP Big Man Phelpsie (or Flaps to you!)

Adam was one of the people who made working in media so much fun, whether he was telling the story or he was the story. He will be much missed.

I can hardly believe Adam will never be calling again about another clever scheme. I can also hardly believe that it was over 45 years ago that I first met him in Dean Street. Associate, confederate, co-conspirator, business partner and (I truly hope) friend. Tough on the outside but surprisingly soft on the inside. He could be infuriating, and he could be brilliant. He could be infuriatingly brilliant, and he could also be brilliantly infuriating. The memory of Adam that I will always cherish most was following a brutal France vs England Five Nations match at Parc des Princes on 15th February 1992 – the “Battle of Paris”, as it became known. The referee (Stephen Hilditch – an Irish teacher who seemed to have a complete sense of humour failure on the day) sent three French players off. Perhaps unsurprisingly England won, and tempers ran high both on and off the field. We celebrated at a nearby cafe by a busy crossroads. No doubt sensing the post-match tension and eager to calm things down, Adam picked up a round metal cafe table, calmly walked out into the centre of the crossroads, risking life and defying the Parisian traffic, and climbed onto the table. He then lowered his trousers and raised his arms in triumph. Wonderful British understatement at its best, and greatly appreciated buy all who witnessed it. Alcohol may be have been involved. Man and legend. They made too few like you. God bless you, Adam, and those you leave behind. Rx

I was so very sad to hear of Adam’s passing. I have the fondest memories of him – my best and favourite ever boss! He taught me a lot, was a great friend and I treasured the fun we had back in the days of Active Int & Falcon. RIP AY – you will be sorely missed by many, and much love to Karen & family. We were all saddened by Adams passing. I have so many great memories of just sitting around and talking about life with Adam. We will all miss him. The Mckenzie clan in Australia

So sorry I won’t make the funeral and I hope the day is full of love, laughter and celebration of a top bloke. I spoke to Adam about 6 weeks ago, first time in years. He rang to ask how my brother was, who has a terminal illness, and could he visit. We chatted and laughed for ages about how he and my brother introduced me to the ‘entertainment culture’ of the media industry, and our joint love of rugby and the forthcoming Lions Tour. Little did I know that it would be Adam that left this world before Rob. I’ve attached a photo of a NABS 7s team. Adam was captain and we had to have a beer after every game, we made it to the final but the 6th beer after the semi final did for us – we were soundly beaten by a “sober posh wanky creative agency” as Adam described them… Condolences and love to all family and friends.

So sorry not to be able to be there today. Always enjoyed Adam’s company and wish it had been more frequent. Great memories of a fellow year of 68er.

Patrick and I were so sad to hear of Adam’s passing. So many memories of happy times together, Patrick going to all those rugby matches with the group and lucky me working with Adam and Robert at AMM -gone too soon but much loved by all of us who knew him. What a great fellow,a friend and client,at times, cannot believe 40 years have passed with many fond memories and of course many pub visits including Johnny the Fox,s pub outside Dublin with Adam, Pat and others at the Radio conference in 74, and his visit to our house in Oxfordshire with Karen and family . He will be sadly missed!

Hey matey. Such sad news. Sorry I couldn’t make funeral …. In Australia post-Lions tour( an excuse I know you would have thoroughly approved of!) Had good times and a bit of lower rugby union matches too. RIP
