So sorry that your wonderful mum passed away. As you said she has no pain anymore. She was such a brave lady to have brought up all of you by herself. I remember you bringing such fabulous Greek food she had cooked. She also used to come by herself to your place even though her eye sight was not that sharp. What courage. It must be that courage she passed over to you Lizzy, that you can face anything that life throws at you. May she Rest In Peace Hold on to your Wonderful Memories!!
Wish I had longer than 10 years to know such an amazing woman who made me feel so welcome and appreciated the few times we met welcomed me with open arms and treated me like her own grandchild and thought of her as my own grandmother I know even now she’ll be looking down and wishing all the best to her family and friends
Such a sad loss of a lovely lady particularly because we had lost contact with her in recent years because of my wife’s own sickness. She was my son, Colin’s, mother in law and always had a kind welcome for us. For her, kindness came by providing plenty of good food, even if you were only visiting for a coffee. That was the Greek way, together with family. We have lost a real darling in Anna’s passing.
Our sincere condolences to Liz and Philipp for your loss! We will always remember our aunt with her bright smile and hospitable as she was! May she rest in peace
My Anthoula was my best friend. We were close friends for seventy years, and I have plenty of wonderful memories. One of the funniest memories I’d like to share is when Anthoula told me that one day when she was trying to cross the road safely, she held on to the back of a man’s coat whilst he also crossed the road. With poor vision, Anthoula put her trust in the man walking in front of her, only for him to turn around to Anthoula and remark: “ I think I’m a bit too old for you, love! “ This is just one of the memories that I look fondly upon to treasure the memory of my dearest friend. I miss her very much and give my sincerest condolences to all the family. Lots of love from Koula. X
Words cannot express the sadness felt at tthe loss of my “Aunty Anna”. The world is a poorer place for the loss of such a beautiful, generous and kind soul. I am very fortunate to have known Aunty Anna for over forty years, and in that time the bond that we shared was strong, and she will always be remembered as my “Aunty Anna”. This year marks the greatest loss of a wonderful human being, and may the Angels receive my Aunty Anna under their wing. We love you, always. Sending my sincerest condolences to Liz, Phil and all the family. Stay strong. X
I knew Aunty Anna, through my mom Koula. Every time we visited we had to eat lots of lovely homemade food whether you were hungary or not and take food home. Anna was a very caring person and I know we will all miss her a lot.
Our aunty Anna was the most kindest, lovely, strong lady you could ever wish to meet. She was always putting others before herself and always feeding everyone with her lovely meals. She was always in the kitchen cooking and kept her garden beautiful. We will miss her very much and send all our love to Elizabeth and Phillip x
Auntie Anthoulla, was a kind generous person. She was a happy soul. May she rest in peace. Our condolences and deepest sympathy to Philip and Elizabeth. Best wishes Kyp, Debbie and family x
Dear Liz & Phillip, Our deepest condolences to you and your families for the loss of our beloved Anthoulla. She was courageous, hard working and very caring. She was the most giving and loving person on earth. We hope your wonderful memories with your mum will be a comfort during this heartbreak. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both. We send our love and strength. Melitsa, Sotiris and all The Ioannou Family From Canada
To say I’m devastated would be a huge understatement… For many years I thought about reconnecting with you, to tell you how much I love and how much I appreciate you. With great sadness it’s now too late, so I’m left to leave how I feel on this memorial for you. Anna, I will never forget all the love, help and support you offered to my mother, my sisters and I. During such difficult times you were there to support and provide a safe haven for us. I’ll never forget the genuine feeling of love, comfort and warmth I felt in your presence… And can’t forget all the delicious home made food and apple crumbles you gave us. I’ll never forget the beautiful smell of fresh laundry that was always lingering on the clothes you gave to us, even now that smell provides me comfort. You treated my mother like a sister and my sisters and I like your own children. Walking back from school, we loved dropping into yours and being in your wonderful company. Anna, you surely were an angel on earth and now you are an angel in heaven. I’ll never forget you and I know one day we’ll meet again. May your beautiful soul Rest In Peace. My love, thoughts and prayers go to your son Phillip, family members and everyone else who knew and loved you.
Dear Liz, I remember your mum always being kind, affectionate, and welcoming whenever I visited you in London when you lived in the family house. I was always well-fed and usually left with more food to take with me on my journey home. We have shared many conversations about our mums, which was always a comfort to me. I’m sending my deepest condolences to you and Phil. Love, Mon x
Anna like so many of friends and family alike,I was saddened to hear of your passing, but then I remembered that when I visited you ,I was welcomed with your lovely cheeky smile and even cheekier eyes full of naughtiness,I would sit and listen to yours and koulas cheeky antics as young girls,to see you both together I could tell you were both cheeky young girls once more giggling away whilst remembering the good old days, and how much how you loved your children, I was honoured to have known you for little time I had,and feel blessed to have had a small glimpse into what was such an eventful life. God bless you Anna ,and know that you are safely home where you belong ,along with all the other angels ,( but still be naughty whenever you want to be)
Dearest Liz & Philip, We are deeply saddened by the loss of your mother, our “ANTHOULLA”. She was such a remarkable and loving person, and she held an incredibly special place in our heart. We will always remember her warm laughter, her kindness, the way she made everyone feel welcomed. Her spirit and love will never be forgotten and we feel truly grateful to have had her in our life. Our thoughts are with you both and your family during this difficult time, and we hope you find some comfort in the beautiful memories you shared with her. Marios & Skevi Christodoulou
I have known my Aunty Ann my entire life. She was my second mother. My own mother considered her as her best friend and when mum worked when my brother and I were kids, Aunty Ann cared for us. I knew some Greek words before I knew English words. There is too much to say here, but Liz, you know how much I loved her. She was one of the best people ever to walk this earth. I treasure the few photos I have of she and I together. I will love her forever. Sandra xx
Rest in peace Aunty Anna ❤️ Thank you for your love, nurturing care and kindness growing up. You’ll be remembered always with treasured memories and your kind influence lives through how I love my kids. I was grateful to introduce you to them and thanks for sharing your pearls of wisdom. You were such a wonderful loving role model, growing up. Remembering your Kurabiye biscuits, delicious Avgolemono soup and searching the garden for tortoises together. You helped create a happy childhood for so many of us xxx Dear Phillip and Liz my heartfelft condolences to you on loss of your beloved mother. Hope all the loving messages will bring you peace and fortitude at this difficult time xxx
Dear Liz,Phil and family I have so many fond memories of your Mum and family. I remember trying to Greek dance in her living room. I remember her food and how she would feed us. The stuffed vine leaves for our European Inter-rail journey…..were finished before we left the UK. I remember my Dad laughing at going to pick up our Mums when they were a little bit tipsy down the local pub. Most of all I remember her love for her family and I hope that that helps you in the time ahead. Carol And Sandra.
I was lucky enough to have known Ann my whole life, she was more than just my next door neighbour, she was another grandma to me. From playing ludo together to feeding her pet tortoises, so many of my childhood memories include Ann. I would give anything to go back and spend another afternoon at her house listening to her stories whilst eating Nutella sandwiches. Not many 6 year olds could say that one of their best friends was their 71 year old neighbour but I was fortunate enough to have experienced such a bond! 22 years later from our first meeting when I was as a baby, I am blessed to say that I got to know the woman Ann was and had the privilege to be looked after by her. There is truly no one else like Ann & she will forever live in my heart. Love, Naomi X
Liz & Philip, The loss of your beloved mother, my dearest aunt Anthoula, deeply saddens me. She was always there with warmth, care and time to give — from opening her home to sharing stories and conversations that made you feel truly welcome. I was fortunate to stay with her and experience her kindness firsthand; her presence was a constant source of comfort and guidance. I will always remember bringing her lemons from our mum Eleni’s garden in Cyprus, and how she would hold them, smell them, and take them in, as if they filled her soul. She had a beautiful way of finding joy in the simplest things, and of bringing people together, making them feel at home. Her love and generosity will never be forgotten — my heartfelt condolences to you both and to all the family. Ntia Soteriou (and from my brother, Soteris Charalambous)
Dearest Anna Today I remember your life and all the happiness and kindness you brought to so many. I do not have the words to express my gratitude for the love you have shown me and my family. My memories of you are only of joy as you were always the smile that greeted us at the door and the warmth that tended to us before we left. I remember you as a safe haven to come to when things were tough and with a beautiful hug and kind words you always made everything better. Perhaps you never knew the impact you made to those who reached out to you but I am sure in heaven you will be rewarded for your kindness. You supported our family when we were growing up when everyone else thought it was too hard, you smiled at us when others judged and you reached out your hand to help when others did not have the time. To Anna’s Family – I am so glad I was able to share in her legacy which touched so many lives like ours with her inspiration. I pray that the love of God will bring you peace in this difficult time. May you find comfort in your precious memories. I will remember her for everything she stood for – love, kindness and humility.
Dear Liz and Philip my sincere condolences. Ann was not just my wonderful neighbour but was like a mother, a friend to me and a grandmother to my children. Ann thank you for the lovely memories that you gave us over the years. Your baking and sharing will never be forgotten. You were always there to give advice and guidance. May your gentle soul rest in peace in Jesus name. Amen. From Kate and family xxx.
Thank you Ann for your kindness and your light. So many warm memories spent in your garden during the summers of my childhood I will cherish. You were like a grandmother to me. May you rest in peace ❤️ To Liz and Philip, Your mother would be so proud of you and sending my condolences during this difficult time. May you be comforted by God’s grace and peace
