Dear Andrew, thank you so much for all the happy times we had together when the sun was always shining, the breeze was light and the days were long. There are too many to list here but up there with the best were our annual trips to the cabin in the Isle of Wight and our walks around the island, the Needles, Tennyson’s Mount, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House …. But elsewhere visiting the Purbeck Vineyard, Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle …. You paddling along the seafront at Skeggy … Your excitement at seeing the yellow post boxes in Guernsey …. Sailing along the Solent … Strolling around Salzburg and Vienna …. And of course the famous Antwerp ring road incident … so many memories of the way we were … And we mustn’t forget the kids who were always there. I was quite new to the business when I first worked with Andrew and he was both very experienced, and very generous with his time and knowledge. He brought an unflappable gentle calm to everything he did and his cheeky sense of humour brightened many of our days. I’m so sorry to hear of Andrew’s passing. Justin

Andrew was a kind, sensitive and gentle soul and will be missed greatly. We first met at work and over the years a friendship grew. In the last few years, our lives took different directions but Andrew’s spirit has and always will remain with me. The world has lost a lovely, caring and witty man. My deepest condolences to Andrew’s family and dear friends.

Dear Andrew,   We worked hard in CSEP but we had fun as well, didn’t we? You were the first person I met when I joined and I will always remember that; how nice, calm, dignified and helpful you were – a true gentleman. Thank you for supplying me with my occasional spoonful of sugar and a biscuit or two – you were always the man to go to for a quick fix in an emergency! And for being a wonderful companion on our train journeys to Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield and other places; and for lending me old history books that you managed to dig out from a library somewhere. You even learned some words in Croatian and wrote me a whole lovely (Snoopy) card in the language – I was so impressed! Your expertise and wisdom will be missed by all of us who were working with you but it is your kindness and compassion that I will remember you for. Rest in peace.    Sanja

Dear Andrew, We met at our induction day for CSEP and quickly worked out we were in a similar place, we ended up being DCCs together and without knowing it became consultants! You were kind, thoughtful, generous and good fun – I loved the fact you always had chocolate in your drawer and on trips. Sadly, due to Covid we hadn’t been able to meet up in the last couple of years but all I have is fond memories of our times together. You will be missed. You were my first desk buddy when I joined CSEP, with your secret stash of chocolate in the drawer I knew we would be good friends! Over the years we have shared many good times and supported each other. I will think of you when I next visit Southwold/Aldeburgh for a bag of chips. Rest peacefully Andrew. x

It was a real pleasure to have worked with you – the shared trials and tribulations of the Special Leave 2 project! I also remember the fun and laughter and so many great memories. On one, occasion us two being stuck in a meeting room, in Caxton House, after the door handle broke and waiting for an eternity to be rescued by Facilities Management – who broke down the door to get us out! Hilarious – although I did not see the funny side at the time. You however, remained cool and calm!   Gone too soon, and I really miss you. Rest in Peace   From your ‘best friend at work’   Joy

A calming voice, when faced with frustrations. A unique sense of humour, when putting things into perspective. A lovely soul, when thoughts of kindness come to mind. RIP dear Andrew

Andrew, you were always a warm, big bear of a man with a twinkle in your eye. We had many a good conversation over the years in the various offices that we worked in together and a few good and not so good Christmas meals. Like others have said you were a kind and gentle person with a very sweet tooth who is very much missed! Rest peacefully x

Andrew – We shared some difficult times over the last year but we also managed to laugh and share funny stories. What will stick with me most though are the times we chatted and laughed over the ten years we were together in the CSEP London office. Whether that was stories from respective travels and walks, doggy tales, recipes (rhubarb being a favourite) or work talk. Andrew – news of your passing came like a bolt of the blue. To say I was shocked is an understatement. Andrew was one of the “good guys” when I joined CSEP. He was always on hand to share his experiences and knowledge whenever I needed it. I just had to walk to his “corner” and he would drop everything to help. He also had a wicked sense of humour once you got to know him and was what I call a “genuine” work colleague. Heartfelt Condolences to the family. Andrew – Rest Well buddy!!

Well Andrew, I guess we probably met on holiday – but which one it was I couldn’t say!. Thank you for all the fun and laughter, the deep talks and fellowship. I loved going on holidays with you and the rest of the group and looked forward to seeing your big open smile and sparklng eyes when we all met up again. My favourite memory of course is THAT day, when you and John, Andy and myself went to Weston-Super-Mare – between us we came up with 12 things that everyone should do on holiday (some slightly more creative than others!) and we then proceeded to do everything with so much enthusiasm and joy – ending with a well earned pint before going back to the others. It has always been one of my most precious days out. I am so glad you were a part of my life and my thoughts and prayers are so much with your family. Andy echoes all my thoughts. Andrew. Having met you whilst working at the Home Office in Croydon back in the 90’s and getting to share my life with you for 3yrs plus. You were my rock during the series of operations I had at Mayday Hospital. Looking after me without complaint. It is with a heavy heart I learnt of your passing. Just to let you know you were loved very much and never forgotten when our lives took different paths later on.. Rest in Peace x

Thinking of Andrew today and all of his friends and family. I worked with Andrew at the Home Office and kept in touch via our CSEP SPoC meetings afterwards. He was a lovely colleague and will be missed.

It was a real shock to hear of your passing and my condolences to everyone who knew you. I had the pleasure of working with you for a few years on Casework, when none of us really knew what we were supposed to be doing. Echoing what everyone else has said, I remember your kindness and warmth. I always received a warm welcome to the London office when you were there and you always asked if I wanted a tea (a rare event in some places but very much appreciated). I really enjoyed working with you and remember our time together with a smile. I know you enjoyed talking about travel and one of my lasting thoughts of you is when you talked about your trip to Easter Island. x

When I joined the Home Office in 2001 (my first office job) Andrew was one of the first people I met and he immediately struck me as someone who I should listen to and learn from. Over the next few years we worked very closely together and became friends, with Andrew’s common sense, calmness and humour always being valuable as we managed the challenges we faced in dealing with the trade unions. RIP Andrew – my condolences to all your family and friends.
