Archibald Alfred Taylor died peacefully in his sleep on December 28, 2025 at 1:30 am. Archie was born in Korle Bu Hospital, Accra, Ghana on March 16, 1940 to his mother Diana and father Benjamin. He arrived in the UK in 1966 where he worked for St John's Ambulance, but spent the majority of his life as a session drummer playing jazz, rock, hi-life, and reggae. Archie was very active and social. He loved watching his beloved Liverpool football club having supported them since he was a child in Ghana. He enjoyed family gatherings of which there were many over the years. He was always the life and soul of the party and was a loyal member of his local social club where he had many friends. Archie was a talented drummer and toured around the world with Santrofi: a band comprised of his brothers Emmanuel, Ernest and Titus. He also had the pleasure of working with Phil Collins, Edwin Starr and Johnny Nash. He is survived by his loving partner Gee, his children Selina and Dean and his many grandchildren. Archie was loved by all and will be truly missed. May God rest his soul.

Arrival Time: Please ensure you arrive at Putney Vale crematorium by 3:15pm for a 3:30pm start. Crematorium Map: Here is a link to a map of the grounds. Travel and Parking: By car: Signs show the turn-off to Stag Lane leading to the vehicle entrance, which is just beyond ASDA supermarket. There is ample free parking close to the chapel including designated disabled bays.  Put postcode SW15 3DZ in your car’s sat-nav at the start of your journey. By public transport: Buses from Putney – bus 265 travels from Putney Bridge via Roehampton and the 85 bus travels from Putney Bridge via Putney train station. Both stop at the Putney Vale Cemetery bus stop. The journey takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Venue Rules: This private members' social club is uninsured and unlicensed for children, so we appreciate your cooperation. No Outside Drinks: Please don't bring alcohol or beverages into the venue. The bar offers great prices, and staff will be monitoring. Anyone bringing in outside drinks will be asked to leave, and we'll incur a £1000 fine. Drugs: Zero tolerance – same rules apply. Respect Our Hosts: Let's make a great impression and show appreciation for the venue's hospitality. Let's make it a day Dad would be proud of! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

He was truly one of a kind—gentle, kind, endlessly patient and with a soul like no other. His energy could light up any room and his smile was warm, pure and unforgettable. He loved to laugh—he would cry with laughter at my dancing—and I’ll always treasure a memory of our long drive to collect a Chinese food order which took us over an hour to come back with we spoke about so much. Doing everything at his own pace, never rushed, always calm and full of grace. A man of many talents and passions, he taught me to stay humble, be patient, and go after what truly makes me happy. His love, his lessons and his spirit live on in me.  Hurts me to never hear “hello you” when seeing you in person. Glad I recorded your voice on a recorder. Oh grandad… I love you mr miyagi my grandad x

Deepest condolences to the family, Archie was a wonderful and loving person, we met him at the railway club in Cricklewood my wife and I just clicked with him instantly because he was such a lovely man-praying that his soul rest in eternal peace . Mr. Churchill as he used to call me Winston and Florence ❤️.

My Uncle Archie… it has taken me a while to write this, because it’s been hard to accept that I will no longer hear your dulcet tone calling me “Lady,” or asking after “My Man”  as you so fondly called us. Those little moments and familiar greetings are etched in my heart. Thank you for being such a good friend and brother to Mum and Dad, and for being my Uncle Archie. Thank you for your kindness, your humour, your presence, and above all, for simply being you. You will surely be missed by all. May you rest in perfect peace. Sleep well, Uncle Archie. Thanks for always being there for us! We love and miss you so so much it still doesn’t feel real that your not here anymore but your always and forever be in our hearts.
