Ciao Cosmo, thank you for looking after me like a father at all those noisy bar shifts at Earl’s and taking me home safely. Cosmo was my neighbour for 30 years and I could not have asked for a better neighbour. Always kind and helpful he had practical solutions to every household or garden problem, usually involving lots of string and odd lengths of wood, but always successful. He was quite bold in that respect and thought nothing to hopping over the fence and to charge of my somewhat neglected garden. A true gentleman and a family man to the end.

I still can’t quite believe that Cosmo is no longer with us. He was one of the most genuinely wonderful people I have ever known kind, thoughtful, and simply the best neighbour anyone could ever wish for. I first met Cosmo when I was still a young boy in secondary school in the year 2000. Even though he was much older, he always made time for me – a quick chat over the fence, a wave, or some small act of kindness that meant the world to a little boy. As I grew up, that early friendliness turned into a real and lasting friendship. We talked about everything and nothing: life, family, the news, the garden anything at all. Over the years that bond only grew deeper, and I treasured every conversation. To our family, Cosmo wasn’t just a neighbour he was family in the truest sense. He looked out for my mum, checked in on my dad, and cared for each one of us as if we were his own. Whether it was lending a hand with something around the house, bringing food when someone was unwell, or simply being there whenever we needed him, he was always ready to help – without ever being asked twice. Twenty-five years of shared moments, laughter, and quiet kindness… I don’t think any words can ever truly sum up what he meant to me and to all of us. All I can say is this: Cosmo was an extraordinary human being, and the world feels a little emptier without him. My heart is with you all. I will miss him dearly, every single day.
