My uncle David, I have memories of my uncle David throughout my whole life. The most relate to wittering. He was proud and happy to have us all at wittering over the years. From when I was very young to as recent as this year he sat smiling and encouraging me to get that kite up in the air fully extended. This year he was just as proud as ever x
The best memory I have is uncle David took me to my first football game, spurs v arsenal at Wembley in 1991, with uncle Andrew, I was only 13yrs old but it was an amazing experience, even though it was a poor game. I also share my birthday with David, even though we didn’t spend birthdays together in later years we always wished each other happy birthday, and that was the last time I heard from him this year and he’s always called me Jo-Jo x
Best older cousin to have Always the life and sole of the family parties just like his dad a true character and will be truly be missed
Many years of good memories, shared in lots of common interests, including same football club, golfing, working together, socialising, talking same rubbish and fixing the world, but most of all he was a brother, like all brothers, there when you needed him and would never hesitate to help out and listen. Will miss him a lot and not being able to do much more together, a great loss for us all. Love and peace for you David.
Lots of memories of Uncle David, He was always in shorts, he always said “yes, yes, no, yes” when he was agreeing with you My earliest memory of him is that he bought me kerplunk for Christmas when I was about 7, and baby sat for me and Steven and let us watch a horror film, at aged 7! He always came to family do’s in Rugby and when we were taking the pee out of someone he’d look at me out of the corner of his eye and we’d have that mutual look like we were crying with laughter inside. But, my main thing was he called me ‘No. 1’ – so of course I took that to mean I was his favourite
David, you made us laugh, when we took you to the Mess both in London and Germany, particularly clearing the coach on the way home, just be farting A LOT. Teaching Paul how to catch rain by hanging out the upstairs bedroom window when he was about a year old!! And lots of other naughty things. Love you mate xx
We will think of you often David. All our love , Kathy Steve and the Boys X
David my brother in law Always there for me to help over the years through good and bad times to laugh with me and set me straight when needed with a shoulder to lean on i will miss you rest in peace All my love xx
We’ll miss you Dave. I only have good memories of you from when we first met when I was a young boy and you were introduced to me as my Dads friend from school. I remember going to watch football games together, often reserve games on cold winter nights. I remember walking back through the snow to your house in Wallington and playing with Fiona. You were there as I grew up, present at football games with many memorable experiences (including the time you burnt me with a teaspoon in the cafe on the way to Colchester and the time you managed to create an exclusion zone around yourself on the way to Manchester). You were always there with a joke and a smile which would keep everyone cheerful. Our weekend golf trip to Okehampton was great fun and the work we’ve done together will also stay with me. You’ve left us far too early and there won’t be characters like you in the future. Our condolences to all who knew and loved you – love Rob, Monika, Harry and Lillian Batrick
Rest in peace Dave, they don’t make characters like you anymore. It was always a pleasure spending time with you mate and thinking back to some of the memories of you now makes me smile. You will be truly missed. Thinking of your wife, daughter and all your family at this difficult time. Love from Nick and Lucita Todd
