Dear Doreen, our Southview Queen, What a joy, you’ve always been, A zest for life, a lovely smile, Always dressed with great style, Matching beads and hat, and my, oh, my, Especially on 13th July… The prettiest dress and cardigan too, That’s how I remember you, As you were singing along, To Daisy, Daisy or the Sailor song.   Your skills were many: You liked to bake, Then share with us all, tea and cake; On other days you would be, Colouring your books most carefully, Or sewing your embroidery, And lifting it up so we could see, Then we’d all clap and give you praise, Which you loved, such happy days!   You were the Queen, and liked to see, Things were done most properly, You knew the place things ought to go, If it was wrong, you’d tell us so! But if we did something daft, Most of all you loved a laugh, You’d tell us off and laugh with glee, Sharing the joke of being silly!   There was a time you would wait, For the daycentre bus to come to the gate, Plus you could also tell, Everyone else’s plans as well, For you loved to organise, With that twinkle in your eyes, You liked everything in your room just so, What program to watch, you’d let us know You were determined to have fun, Including everyone, Holidays, trips to the sea, You welcomed enthusiastically, Out to the cafe, or Pantomime show, You would definitely want to go, And with the Visiting Theatre Acting Group, You’d dress up and sing, like one of the troupe.   Going about in your wheelchair, A cat or two would also be there, Faithful companions it has to be said, All in their places on your bed, Watching as you had a manicure, Of your affection they were sure, Affection that we all will miss, As you reached out for a hug, sometimes gave a kiss.   A special lady, through and through, You brought joy to all you knew, Memories you gave us, we cannot measure, Doreen our Queen, and such a treasure.   Now God has called you where we cannot see, Doreen, Sailor, come home to me, But in that heavenly harbour new, Our thoughts and our love are still with you.  By Jane Eaglesfield

Hi Doreen, one of my memories that sticks in my mind was when me and mum were coming back from Liverpool and we stopped at a service station and mum spotted you through the window. It was so nice to see you and a lovely surprise for you, you were waiting for a coach to take you on holiday.You were happy to see me and my mum and even more so to go on your holiday. Rest in Peace Love Ryan xxxx

Doreen, is a calm, warmth and bubbly lady.She takes great pride in her appearance. She likes to dress in beautiful clothes and likes her makeup. I will miss her smile and her love of music. One of her favourite songs is Daisy,Daisy, and after every event would sing it to end the occasion. She will be missed dearly.

Remember meeting Doreen when I was 9 and she took great pride in showing me her jewellery ❤️ I also remember Doreen and her mum and dad meeting up with us at Bognor, Doreen was always cheerful and happy when I saw her, I truly believe she had a long and happy life ❤️ Reunited with your family now Doreen , they will all be so pleased to see you xxx

Missing you Doreen Doreen was such a wonderful person with a lovely character Doreen would call me Mary and say come here I need to tell you something I went out with Myrtle and had a lovely time I was then telling Annmarie what Doreen said, Annmarie said I went as well, I said Doreen did not mention you Annmarie was not amused it made me laugh

Doreen you have grown your wings now so fly away to your mum and dad and family they are waiting for you with open arms you will never be alone fly high my love I no you will be happy god bless you ❤️xx

Our Queen has left us, called home by our lord, we fought to keep you with us but his will be done, you will be with us forever in the memories we made together, and forever in our hearts, God bless you Queen Doreen you are in the arms of of our loving father.

My Queen Doreen. I have known you for five years and in that time you became one of my favourite people. I loved chatting with you, being silly with you, playing with your cats and singing songs together. It was great fun painting your nails, helping you decide what to wear out of all your beautiful clothes and putting lovely bows in your lovely hair. Also, you were so talented at sewing, colouring and making me laugh. It was a pleasure seeing you every day. I really miss your beautiful smile and cheeky laugh. Rest peacefully, until we meet again. Auntie Doreen was always a happy soul and had an infectious smile which made everyone who met her smile too.  You will be sorely missed but be in our hearts forever. I have worked with Doreen for over twenty years, she was very soft and suttle with staff, she has a good sence of humor, very loving and care about others. Doreen would always engaged in a conversation with staff. I look forward to work with her on any of my shifts even when she was not in the best of mood. She was a pleasure to work with, and I will really miss her presence at the home. Hope the family finds strength among each other and have satisfaction knowing she was well looked after at the home. I will survey miss her. Sleep on DOREEN. May her Soul Rest In Perfect Peace.

Such a beautiful service. Such a beautiful lady….very much missed but so thankful I got the opportunity to meet and to know Doreen. Sorry not with you today but thank you for making it possible to join online. You’re all in my thoughts. As for Doreen, she’s just unforgettable. Gave so much joy!

Remembering Doreen when she got a new flatmate. Both were sat at the kitchen table together. They’d had some drinks and little time together. Then new lady put out her hand towards Doreen’s cat. I was surprised when Doreen picked it up and held it out so new flatmate could reach it and pick up her cat! That was really kind and as Viv said, showed true friendship.

Doreen will always be loved. Such a beautiful service. ❤️
