All the characteristics of Emily that her parents and family cherished are spiritual. Her empathy, attitudes, sense of humor, intelligence. I first met Emily 13 years ago in Dulwich, London. I’m so blessed to have had the most beautiful, intelligent, funniest and supportive friend anyone could wish for.  We had so many laughs together. I have so many wonderful memories to cherish.   My E is forever in my heart.  Sending all my love, hugs and sympathy to Emily’s family and friends. 

I’m looking at a lovely photo of the Hobbs and McCulloch family taken one summer in England. I’m guessing it was taken around 1992-3. Robin, Anne and Emily are sitting/kneeling on the ground while the Peter, Jen, Vanessa and Andrew are standing behind us with a hedge of red flowers in the background. Michael must be the photographer. We all look so much younger, skinnier and very happy. That’s the image I will take into the service tomorrow.

I have known Emily since we were in Secondary school and she has been one of my best friends ever since. From the first day we met we just clicked and I knew she would be my friend for years to come. Such a loving, kind, bubbly, caring, trustworthy and supportive friend. Have so many incredible memories and laughs to treasure.Will miss her enormously. Feel so lucky to have had her in my life. Will miss her giggle and lovely smile. Love and sympathy to all her family and friends during this tough time.

I only met Emily a few years ago but in that brief time she had become one of my best friends. She was one of the nicest, kindest, most supportive and funniest people I have ever met. She had a smile that could light up a room and was always laughing. It’s such a tragedy that her life has been cut so short but I’m grateful for the time we had together. My thoughts and condolences go to her family and friends.

Emily was sunshine and smiles. Her laugh, her naughty giggle. She will forever be in my heart. Emily was Timon and I was Pumbaa (The Lion King) . Sending love and so much strength to Michael, Robin, Ness, Mark and the children.

I have too many memories of Emily to list, but throughout them all is the beautiful smile she shared with everyone and the sunny outlook she always had.

Emily and I met when we were at university together and that was the start of the most amazing friendship. Em was my best friend and she was the sister I never had. We were there for each other through everything and she was the most caring, loving, funny person. She was always there if i needed a shoulder to cry on, a good laugh, a good shopping shop or to talk about one of our dating experiences. I will miss her terribly and I am incredibly grateful and thankful that I knew Emily and we were a part of each others lives. Sending huge love and condolences to the whole family. xx

I have so many memories of Emily throughout her life – as a little girl in Kenya, as a pre-teen in London, visiting us for Christmas in DC, looking fabulous at Vanessa & Mark’s wedding, and even just two summers ago when all the kids put on an impromptu music concert for all of us. She was always a ray of sunshine and happiness and I will miss her dearly. There are no words to convey the depth of my sadness at her life cut much too short.

When Emily was born in September 1982 I waited with her American grandmother (Blanche Sussman) in the London apartment owned by her parents for our first sight of Emily. Still in shock that she has gone!

Lovely Emily was the beautiful daughter of my lifetime friends Robin and Michael. I was able to know Emily through the years due to their frequent visits to the States. Emily always had a smile on her face and was a delight to be with. Because she had the strong Sussman resemblance, I always felt at home with her. Robin and I grew up together from 6 years old and watching Emily grow, was like watching a niece. She is in my heart and soul ,and I will miss this sweet young woman.

Emily took every opportunity to live her life to the fullest and had a zest for life, fun nature, cheeky giggle and smile that was contagious. I will miss my dear friend. I have many special memories of spending time with my cousin Emily as young children. Family gatherings always provided the opportunity to play with Emily and Vanessa whether it was board games, having fun outside or watching a movie. I have particularly strong memories of when we visited Kenya and the time we spent together there. Emily was a wonderful person to spend time with – funny, kind, caring and generous. She always took a genuine interest in our lives and what was going with our children. I wish that she had been able to visit us here in Brunei. We will miss Emily enormously but feel grateful for the nice times that we have spent with a truly special person. Rest in peace Emily.

Everytime I see a sunflower I will think of Emily. She was often the sunshine that would brighten any room that she would walk into. I’m totally shocked beyond words to hear of this sad news and my deepest sympathy goes out to Robin, Michael, Mark, Ness and to all the rest of her family and friends. Michael xxx

I was only recently made aware of Emily’s passing. To say I was devastated by this news is an understatement. I met Emily when we both worked at Marriott Hotels in London back in 2007 and we immediately got on incredibly well. Emily was a great person in every sense and I miss her friendship terribly. My words can’t express this enough. I send my best wishes to the friends and family of Emily. We have all been blessed to have had Emily in our lives.
