It is with great sadness that Alan and the family announce the passing of Frances, peacefully after a short illness, at the Royal Free hospital on 19th August 2022 aged 80.
She will be forever missed by her beloved husband, Alan, her loving children Steven, Maggie, Richard & Julia, her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Frances was especially close to her cousins in Scotland, Christine, Morag, Helen & the late Frances, who were more like sisters to her and are heartbroken at her loss.
The family welcome all who wish to attend her celebration of life service and to join us afterwards at the DOB club to raise a glass (or several) to her.
Frances requested no flowers, but if you’d like to make a donation to her favourite charity in her name, that would be very kind. Details are below.
The family would like to extend their gratitude for the kindness, support, messages, calls and cards during Frances’ illness and since.
Our broken hearts tell us we have lost someone we loved very much, and now we must learn not to live without her, but to live with the love she left behind.
Sleep well mum x
Please join us afterwards at the DOB club, 128 Maygrove Rd, NW6 2EP
Frances Hagan Braceland (Clark/Reynolds/Tynan) was born in Johnstone, Scotland in 1942. She was brought up by her Aunt Agnes & Uncle Tam after her mother’s early death. Auntie Agnes remained close to Frances and visited her many, many times after Frances moved to London in the early sixties. Frances was proud of her Scottish heritage and loved going ‘hame’ for a visit but London was where she was happiest and where she made her home for the rest of her life.
Frances worked in lots of places but her time in the DOB club, the Prince of Wales and the Cooper’s Arms in Kilburn will be in lots of people’s fondest memories of her; the latter is where she met Alan, the love of her life for over 40 years, making an honest man of him 6 years ago.
Both her and Alan liked to holiday in sunny places and loved socialising.
Frances celebrated her 80th birthday in April. It was a special day that will be remembered by all.
She was a wife, mum, nanny, great-nanny, cousin and friend to many.
There was only one Frances, and we will miss everything about her.
