From Violet Allen I’m writing these words with a very sad heart for my dear friend Kay AKA= Miss Jamaica as I would call her I know dear Kay over 50 years plus, I first know Kay through our husbands as they were friends. We got married in 1974, moved to Walthamstow in early 1975, Kay and Bibsy were already living in Walthamstow. That’s where our friendship began, we would go to the market to do our food and Caribbean shopping every Saturday ,we got to know the first white English man that sold Caribbean food in the market from his stall, when he had nice yellow yams he would save some for Kay and me Jamaican advocate pear and we also had our favourite stalls to get our vegetables etc etc. And we would start from St James street end walk to top of market and back looking and buying what took our fancy While living in Walthamstow I change my job to work at Sunblest the bakery I worked there full time and got Kay a evening job 2 days a week we had such a laugh working their We did this over 7 years till I moved from Walthamstow but our friendship continue till Kay and the family move to Jamaica. When she came back to England with Debbie our friendship continue My dear Kay all your family and friends will be missing you so much as you were such a special person and lovingto every one who knew you R.I.P. Miss Jamaica Violet x
Gone too soon. In loving memory of a cherished friend Kay (Karita). A life that was full of Joy, Love, and Adventure. For over fifty years our friendship blossomed from the tender roots of childhood to the sturdy branches of adulthood. From walking to school together to witnessing the happiness of being grandparents. Our bond, forged within the traditional Carribean upbringing was unbreakable we found comfort and understanding in each other. Our children’s birthdays coinciding with the day after our wedding anniversaries was a poignant reminder of the intertwining destinies of our families. Through joy and challenges, our connection only deepened, a testament to the enduring strength of our friendship. Farewell, my dear friend your memory will forever be engraved in my heart and though you may gone, your spirit will continue to illuminate the path ahead. Rest in Eternal Peace Kay Audrey, Sang, Andrew, Sarah and all the family.
In loving memory of Mrs. S, Ethan’s beloved Grandma Kay, whose presence was a gift to all who knew her. She left us too soon. Mrs. S had a remarkable ability to light up every room she entered, infusing it with warmth, joy, and authenticity. Her love for life and unwavering commitment to living each moment to the fullest are qualities that have left an indelible mark on me. Grandma Kay’s legacy is one of genuine love, boundless enthusiasm, and an inspiring zest for life. I am deeply grateful for the moments I shared with her, and will strive to embody the beautiful legacy she has left behind.
I met this beautiful soul in my earlier years of Kingsway and her wonderful family and it has been an unforgettable experience knowing them all. She was an amazing, caring, exciting and astounding person to be around who always lit up a room. The Memories our families shared will forever be etched in our minds. Mr. Solomon, Darren and Deborah, always remember that you are in our prayers and we know that one day soon we will meet up with this beautiful gem of a phenomenal woman in the new Jerusalem. Love and blessings always.
I met my Dear friend Karita when I was about 17 years old. We quickly became friends even though we had such different personalities. She was Confident, outgoing, vibrant, mature beyond her years and of course very friendly. I on the other hand was quite reserved. However, without me being conscious of it she took me under her wing and helped to develop my confidence. We just seemed to click and maintained a very close friendship in the intervening years. I had the honour of being one of her bridesmaids when she got married. She remains one of the happiest and beautiful brides I have ever seen. We spent a great deal of time visiting each other’s homes where we would chat, laugh very, very loud (belated apologies to our previous respective neighbours). We talked about everything. No subject was off-limits. We had so much fun. After having her 3 lovely children Richard, Darren and Deborah and they commenced School we spent countless hours discussing her disillusionment with the British Education System. She felt strongly that they would receive a better standard of Education in Jamaica and better life chances. I endorsed her concerns as I have worked in the Education Sector for decades and though her decision to move to Jamaica was met with some scepticism I had nothing but respect for the courageous decision she made. Looking at Richard, Darren and Deborah today there is no doubt she made the right decision. On a personal note I will always cherish the love and support she gave me when I was seriously ill a few years ago. Her positivity and prayers strongly contributed to the healing process. The highlight for me was when she visited armed with Mr. Kipling Apple Pies and Ambrosia Custard when she visited. Though she knew neither of us should be eating it, she justified it by saying ‘we both deserved a naughty little treat’. How we laughed….. I must make reference to her love of Hats and Fascinators. She wore her collection with such style and Panache. No one could wear a hat like Karita. It was a source of amusement whenever my Grandson could not remember her name he would refer to her affectionately as the Hat Lady. She loved that title. She was also known as a devotee of Debenhams Department Store. We always joked that she should have invested in shares in the Company. In summary, my friend was charismatic, friendly, outgoing, adventurous and kind. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. I will miss her physical presence, our marathon phone calls, her positivity, the joy she radiated wherever she went. I WILL MISS ALL OF HER. Finally, the words ‘hello darling’/ hello luv will never mean the same. Rest in eternal peace my Beautiful Friend. I will forever miss you. Joan, Andre’, Jordan, Kyle and family
My condolences to the Solomon family on the passing of their matriarch. Mrs Solomon was a very kind and loving person whose love for her children knew no bounds. I was very fortunate to have been friends with her daughter and was given the opportunity to experience her grace and affection. From sleepovers to prom night she was always there to share a laugh or provide some much needed advice. You will forever hold a special place in my heart. Rest in peace

I wish to offer my condolences to the Solomon family and dedicate this tribute to Karita Solomon, a cherished friend and confidant whose presence was nothing short of regal. Her kindness was a balm, her wisdom a guiding light, and her friendship a treasure. Karita carried herself with an elegance reminiscent of royalty, exuding a warmth and grace that made everyone around her feel unique and valued. She had an uncanny ability to connect with people regardless of race, class or background, and her remarkable oratory skills could turn strangers into lifelong friends. This unique gift of connection and diplomacy often made me tell her she would have made an outstanding diplomat. Her family was her pride and joy. Each milestone, every achievement, was a cherished memory that she shared with palpable pride and love. Karita’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. As an ardent Christian, she understood the true essence of love and lived it out every day. Her prayers were heartfelt, and her actions were a testament to her faith. She did not just offer prayers; whenever possible, she provided tangible help to those in need, embodying the spirit of Christian charity and love. Above all, she was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or be there for someone in need. Karita Solomon was a woman who lived her life with a rare blend of grace, generosity, and joy. Her legacy is one of love—love for her family, love for her friends, and love for all humanity. We will miss her dearly, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched, the hearts she warmed, and the smiles she inspired. Rest in peace, dear Karita. Your journey here may have ended, but your love and light will continue to guide us, reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived and the power of a heart full of love. Richmond, Andrea & Shari
Hello. This is Noel, aka Mikey Royal .When I got the phone call from Debra and Joseph, I was numb. I couldn’t believe the sad news. I cried and cried. Karita always called me from Jamaica while she was there. I was Best Man at her wedding to my friend Bibsy. We have been friends for well over 50 years and I affectionately called her ‘Katie Bird’. Karita was such a lovely, caring person. A very special lady. Always there to help and advise, if you needed her. Karita loved traveling, ESPECIALLY TO JAMAICA, but in case any of you does not know, Karita was actually born in the beautiful island of St Vincent and the Grenadines. I miss you Katie Bird. Sleep Peacefully. One Love. Noel and family X
My Sincere condolences to the Solomon family, we all grieve with you for the sad loss of Aunty Kay. I was a flower girl at Aunty Kay’s wedding, and recall that as the start of a wonderful relationship with the kindest and warmest person. She will never be forgotten and will always have a place in my heart. Samantha xxx
Janet, Don and Richard Our sincere condolences to the Solomon family. Words of course can’t express our sadness at the loss of our dear friend. We were neighbours for years until her move to Jamaica – even then there was a deep sense of loss of the family from our daily lives. Karita was a wonderful, beautiful person – always cheerful, laughing, dancing – I don’t know anyone who loved wearing hats more than her! There’s so much that can be said about this unique person that could actually turn into a book – a special person who will be missed so much. RIP Karita xxx
In Memory of my dear friend Karita Solomon, (Aunty K, as I would call her). I have known Karita for 50 years plus. We met at Woodbury Downs evening classes in Manor House, about 1971/1972, just after I left school, where we excelled on our shorthand, typing and other subjects. A dear friend with great, great advice, knowledge, lots of laughter, and such a spiritual person. Never a dull moment around her, I so miss that. She was such an adventurous lady. Oh she loved travelling, Jamaica especially, and other countries. She also loved her music. She so loved her family, they were the apple of her eye. Rest In Eternal Peace, our dear, dear friend. There is only one Karita. Bibsy, Richard, Darren, Avia, Debbie, Joseph, Ethan, and Morgan, you are all in our thoughts and prayers, please keep well. Maureen, Vanny and all our family
A beautiful person, with a heart. I have never known anyone who just has so much love for everyone. Consistently. The love and admiration I have for Kay is unmeasurable. Someone I have known my entire life. A true blessing to have been able to witness the work of a true angel on earth and now in heaven. Love you Always Kay. Our prayers, Love and support are with you all. To say that Kay will be missed doesn’t come close.xxx
Condolences to the Solomon Family, Karita was a very bubble lady who brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. MAY SHE REST IN ETERNAL PIECE.
Bibsy, Richard, Darren, Deborah and the extended family please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of our dear Karita. I cannot imagine the pain you are feeling. I was deeply saddened to hear of her sad passing. I have known Kay for over 50 years as we are old school friends. Our lives took different paths but we have always kept in touch over the years. She loved Jamaica and would often stop off and see my mum on her travels between Kingston and Westmoreland. She was a very kind, caring and bubly person with a smile that could light up a room. We will miss you Kay. We won’t forget you and you will live on in your children and grandchildren. Your work here is done. Now Rest in perfect peace and arise in glory. Dorothy and family.
Dear Bibsy and family i was both shocked and saddened to hear about the loss of Karita she was an incredibly dear person. Please accept our sincerest condolences for your loss. Thank goodness for friends who we can laugh and cry with. I can’t possibly begin to understand how you are feeling or what you must be going through at this time. But I want you to know I am thinking of you as a supportive friend. Calvin : aka Pab
My last WhatsApp message from Mrs Solomon is dated March 15, 2024. It’s a picture of a peach rose and it says Happy Sabbath. May you be blessed and refreshed . My last whatsapp to Mrs. Solomon was on March 13. I sent her a picture of herself by the garlic flower in bloom, at her house in Jamaica on Woodhaven Avenue—the house, across from which I spent much of my formative years. The house I spent many hours with Deborah, Mrs. Solomon’s daughter, my bestie and of course, my second family Deborah’s mom, dad and brothers. Having spent so many hours at Mrs Solomon’s house with Deborah while we both attended high school, Mrs Solomon saw me as another daughter and I over the years, came to see her as mom, and you know what neither Darren, Richard, nor Deborah seemed threated by Mrs. Solomon’s ‘maternal infidelity’. Guess they were used to her being there for everyone, knowing that she was there especially for them alone. How did she do it? Part of the Karita magic, I guess. I remember when I had a Kevin Costner crush, when Bodyguard came out and yes, Mrs. Solomon understood the crush and swooned with me too. She really was just the perfect example of a mom, supportive, nurturing, cool, fun and understanding. Even when Deborah moved to the UK and her mom came to Jamaica for breaks, it was Mrs. Solomon and I who went to the Shaggy concert, the Chronixx Concert; the beach as often as we could; the river; Devon House; the super market. We went to Junior Gong’s Welcome to Jamrock concert, screaming off our lungs like young girls and while I was still at University, we went to a Sanchez Mother’s Day concert. We did so many things together. Then I became a mother and guess what, Mrs Solomon, myself and my daughter, went to the beach together, Devon House, the river—we just continued hanging out, but this time with my daughter. There are pictures with Mrs. Solomon and I and Mrs Solomon and my daughter. When I think back to March 2024, of our times together at Devon House and the supermarket, in particular, one moment in the supermarket when I thought to myself and confirmed how spunky Mrs Solomon really is, that indeed as giving and caring as she is, there is a rebel there, someone who stand ups and fight for her right to just be. When I think back to March 2024, I really am brought to two lines in the Dylan Thomas poem “ Do Not Go Gentle in that Goodnight”. They are: Do not go gentle into that goodnight Rage, rage against the dying of the light That’s the Mrs. Solomon I know, she’s a sweet beautiful; caring, people person but, she never ever dimmed her light, or energy because of age; Mrs Solomon never bowed to age. Indeed, she raged against the dying of the light and enjoyed every minute of each day. There’s so much I can say, but, the other anecdotes and memories will also say it, as it is the same Mrs Solomon we all knew—the Mrs Solomon who embraced life and the people in her life. Thank you, Solomon family, for sharing you mom, grandmom and wife with us. Thank you Mrs Solomon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful soul; your beautiful smile; your beautiful life with us.
In Loving Memory of Kerita, It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my favourite beloved cousin, Kerita. She was more than just a family ;She was a true friend an incredible person. Sis Solomon will be remembered for her beautiful personality. Always cheerful and positive. SIP Jesus will soon be here.
My memory is many years ago but something I have never forgotten. When i visited Jamaica with my parents we visited Karita’s home. I remember how kind, welcoming and friendly she was. We hung out on the veranda and I remember hearing ‘when I see you smile’ by singing sweet. That was my first time hearing it as it just came out. Every time I have heard it since I have always remembered where I heard it first. Rest in perfect peace Karita, you will be missed xx
Bibsy,Richard Darren,Deborah and family. Please accept my deepest Condolences on the loss of Karita. I was deepely sadden to hear of her passing. I’ve known Karita from school days in London. Karita is a very warm and loving and caring individual. Her smiles so beautiful lights up the room. In 2007 I visited my Grand Uncle in Jamaica only to find out she lives minutes away. Within 10 minutes she pulled up. When she came in she said you are coming with me so off I went to pack. I spent about 4 days with her. We had fabulous time and went out and about lots. I’ll never forget you. May you Rest in Eternal peace. My dear ♥️ friend.
In loving memory of my nearest and dearest cousin Karita. To me, Karita was more like a big sister, my family confidant. I miss her dearly. She was always there in your time of need with words of wisdom and her prayers and blessings were always comforting. I will miss her quick wit and cheeky banter which always made me laugh. I will miss her unconditional love and Support when things were tough. Gone but never forgotten Forever in our hearts ️ Eve and Ama
Noble, loving, caring, thoughtful is just a few of the many words to describe mommy Solomon. Whenever our paths met, she was always the sweetest, never a time not asking how is your mom or how are your family. And before we part, she always says, “please give them my love. We have lost a special lady, one of the sweetest souls to have walked this path. Our sincere condolences to my brother Darren and the entire Solomon family. Sleep in Peace, mommy Solomon until we meet again in that great getting up morning.
Wonderful soul
Where can I start to express my sincere condolences to a very good and dearest friend. I met Karita 1983 and we were work colleagues for 5 years until 1988. We worked in Haringey in Housing and Housing Management. We became and form a great family and friends association. Throughout the years the friendship and company continued and we had great bonding with everyone. The friendship continued until we ended up having a family wedding celebration and holiday in Kingston Jamaica in 1993. This is because Karita and myself left the local Housing management on the same day in 1988. Karita and family went to Jamaica to take up permanent residence. I then moved on to a higher management position in the same field. I keep telling her, Karita that one day I will knock on her door,so please let me in and it did. This actually happened in 1993 and so the friendship continued until her passing so may her dear soul rest in peace in the arms of our Jesus. This is just a brief and shortened summary of the friendship, so to put it in words and writing would be miles and miles long. May God Bless and keep us and the entire family safe and well always. Thanks
My Dearest K, Words cannot express the depth of my sorrow for the loss of such a radiant soul. You were a beacon of light, spreading warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith wherever you went. Your friendship was a cherished gift, more like family than anything else. You touched so many lives with your loving spirit and devotion to God. Though you are no longer with us, your legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in our hearts. You were truly well-loved and will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, dear friend. With all our love, Fay, Tracey, Ethan, Calvin, Jasmin, Phillip and (Cynthia -JA) xxxx
The families met when we relocated to Kingston and Mrs. Solomon became an amazing friend. Throughout the years we kept in touch and entrenched our wonderful experiences and memories which we will always cherish. Mrs. Solomon is a very special person and with this memory, all of you are in our thoughts and our prayers.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Sister Solomon for many years. She is a delightful and kind-hearted lady. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 lockdown, our friendship grew stronger. She would often call to check on my well-being, and I would send her uplifting messages and Bible verses each morning. On occasion, Sister Solomon would share beautiful photographs of her family and sometimes her flowers, accompanied by heartwarming messages. Her thoughtfulness and generosity brought immense joy to me. She was one of three ladies I called duchesses at Tottenham Lighthouse Church. She was always willing to assist me in any way she could, particularly during Sabbath School programmes. Sister Solomon was a pillar of strength and support for me. Whenever I faced difficulties, she had a remarkable ability to comfort me with her gentle voice and infectious laughter. On March 11th, I received a call from Sister Solomon, who was in Jamaica at the time. She informed me that she would be returning to London in two weeks for a hospital appointment scheduled for the first week of April. Sadly, this conversation turned out to be our last. Sleep well, my sister, until we meet again. From Sister Hannah
Kay (Karita), my friend you have left a lasting memory of love, sincerity, laughter and an understanding of commitment. On my visits to Jamaica you always managed to find time for me and my children, my extended family and time share a prayer. I will never forget the loyalty and commitment you showed my mum (when others didn’t) on the passing of my father. I only smile when l think of you, as l know it’s not goodbye, but until we meet again!
Red is Danger – that is what I was told at school, but then I met Sis Solomon! Red was wrapped around kindness, generosity, care, a warm smile, wisdom, laughter and fun. ‘Across the bridge there’s no sorrow Across the bridge there’s no pain The sun will shine across the river And you’ll never be unhappy again . . .’ Jim Reeves The bridge is near completion – Jesus is coming soon.
Grandma Kay had always a smile on her face. She gave us the warmest welcoming hug when we first met. She is deeply missed already! Our sincere condolences to all family! A big hug from us. Patricia, Tiago, Alex & Thomas

There were never dull moments around her. I admired her spirit of life, love and good vibes. I will remember most, her warm beautiful smile and tight hugs, her love for tropical blue waters ️ and mangoes . My dearest Auntie Karita. Never did I think I would be writing this message like this. From I was born to me becoming a man you have been present in my life often continuing the work that my mum started. My memories of you will always be of your infectious smile and don’t worry be happy and give thanks approach to life. I don’t ever think I can recall you being angry. You had a way about you that always ensured you viewed life as being half full as opposed to half empty and this energy always lept out from you. You called me your ‘big son’ and you treated me like a Son always being there for me and having sound advice. I’m going to miss you Auntie Karita but I know you’ll be dancing up there in heaven with Mum and bussing a two step together. Love you always ❤️
Hey Deborah, Although I never got the chance to meet your mum, I’ll always remember the chats that I had with her when me and you were on the phone. She always sounded so happy, which is what I’ll remember most about her. RIP Mrs S.

Beautiful kind, stunning, elegant and graceful. These and more qualities you possessed in abundance. Thank you for your kindness and the times we spent together. You had the ability to instil and inspire self confidence in myself as a young lady. God walks with you and now he has called you home. Rest easy Queen, your work here is done.❤️
We trust that the family of sister Solomon will be comforted at this time of sorrow. May they find comfort in God’s promises and the beautiful memories that were shared. Ever remember that for the righteous, death is but a sleep.
One year later …. time has not provided healing. I miss you beyond words. I have so much to tell you. I need to hear your encouraging voice. We visited you yesterday but somehow it still feels unreal. Thank you for showing us what it means to love.
