Personal note

A personal note from the family

The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to all, for their prayers, support, comforting messages, calls, flowers and cards during this sad time.

In addition the family also wish to thank the staff at Elm Lodge Care Home (especially those on the Fleet Unit) for their selfless care and support for our mum throughout the last 5 years.

Information for Attendees

 

  • Dress smart, casual and colourful (there is no requirement to wear black)
  • All attendees are asked to meet at the crematorium
  • The family kindly ask that instead of floral tributes, any donations be made to Dementia UK (see link below) would be preferable.

Obituary

About Marion's Life

Marion Lyra Pearl Dee sadly passed away on 26th May 2023, of Vascular Dementia. She was 88 years old.

Marion, known as Pearl to family and friends was  born on 9th May, 1935 in Trinidad, West Indies to Oliver and Agatha Clementina Thompson.

Although Pearl considered England as home,  her heart and roots remained in Trinidad, which she visited as often as she could.

Pearl arrived in England in the 1960’s and worked part time at Lyons Maid Ice Cream. In the mid 70s, she was employed by the NHS, as an auxiliary nurse at Roxbourne Geriatric Hospital until retirement.

Pearl is survived by 7 children (Carlton, Jacqui, Peter, Anne-Marie, Nolan, Gina and Brendan), 18 grandchildren,18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephew. 

Mum/Nan/Sister/Auntie will be sadly missed.
