Mukesh Gadher

So many wonderful memories, too many to share. Cool, calm, collected, always there, always in our hearts.

I first met Mukesh when he started dating Maya and they were besotted with each other so no surprise when they married and we became brothers in law to two Daya ladies. They spent a summer with us in Connecticut in 1985 and worked at a kids summer camp where he was a big hit, and we all had a memorable drive to Florida and back for a super vacation, Disneyworld etc. On my family’s return to England I bought an MGA and Mukesh was so impressed, he bought one too and we shared the thrills of driving our old classic cars. He was always enthusiastic and positively cheerful and I never saw him otherwise, and when I lost contact with him I did miss his good company. I visited him again a couple of years ago and despite his afflictions you could see the old Mukesh was in there somewhere. Such a great guy, such a sad loss for Maya and the boys.

The loss of such a wonderful father, husband, family member and friend is like Mukesh is not justified by any words. His loss will forever leave a big void in so many people’s lives. Our deepest love and prayers go out to Maya, Kieran, and Aaron during this difficult time. Mukesh will be missed tremendously, but the memories we all have with him can never be erased. May you rest I peace my brother…you are irreplaceable and we love you very much, taken from us way too soon…but never, ever forgotten. Sushil, Ida, Adrian, and Christian Daya…your loving cousins from Canada.

To Maya, Kieran and Aaron I am so terribly terribly terribly sorry. I cannot imagine your pain. I feel incredibly privileged to have known you. It was always clear how much love and warmth surrounded him because of you. I admired your dedication and the unwavering care you showed throughout everything. Dearest Maya, Aaron and Kieran. I haven’t stopped thinking of you all since this afternoon. Mukesh was so incredibly loved by all of us at Fonthill – we are absolutely devastated by his loss. And yet it will be a drop in the ocean compared to what you are all going through. We have all admired the love and strength your family have always shown, and known what an incredible man Mukesh must have been to have been loved so deeply by so many. It was an absolute privilege to have been able to treat him and to have met and got to know all of you along the way. Know that we are thinking of you x All my love to you and the family xxxx

You have all been on the forefront of my mind and can not begin to imagine how you are all feeling. It has been our absolute pleasure looking after Mukesh and you all over the years and to see such a loving close family bond between you all is just amazing. No words can describe how sorry I am for your loss – Mukesh has been a part of my daily life since I joined Fonthill as a Physiotherapy Assistant. Even though he was non-verbal, he had a beautiful way of communicating and connecting with us in ways that touched all of our hearts. His presence & gentle personality (and that smile) will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of working with him. Wishing you strength and comfort during this very difficult time. I only got to work with Mukesh for a short while, but in that time I could see what a truly special man he was and how everyone loved and respected him. The children enjoyed being with him. Colleagues held him in such high regard. He was our Mr International Evening. Getting to know Mukesh, it was evident to see how much he loved Maya and the boys. His face lit up when he spoke about them. Mukesh was a wonderful gentleman. Sending love and prayers to you all. Xx

I am deeply saddened by the passing of an amazing man, teacher, and friend. Mukesh’s wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He taught not only with his words, but with the way he lived—honourably, generously, and with great humility. Mukesh is one of the most remarkable people I’ve ever met.  He has had such an impact on me in the way I teach,  how I connect to our school community … and how to live for the beauty in life. When I talk with colleagues in the past, this quote best fits what we all felt in our memories with Mukesh … “it’s not what you do, but how you make people feel”. He really saw people. I will always remember Mukesh as an honest, kind, fun and genuine man. He had a calm, clear approach with children in lessons and everyone loved him so dearly. I hope that I can learn to conduct myself in my teaching career in the same calm manner that Mukesh always did. Nothing fazed him and the children loved to be in his presence. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and not a single person ever had a bad word to say about him. May you rest in peace Mukesh, you will be sorely missed xxx

Oh our wonderful Mr G.. Mukesh was such a strong character within our Barnfield family.. always smiling and laughing. My own children had the pleasure of being in class with him but working along side Mukesh for so many years was an absolute honour.. he was a strong member of our second family and I feel truly blessed to have known him.. My condolences go to the whole family. I had the joy of working with Mukesh for many years and he was an amazing person. He could light up a classroom with his presence and was such a key member of staff. I will forever remember his wonderful smile and the way that he brought International Evening to life. I only knew Mukesh for a short amount of time whilst at Barnfield but in every interaction he was the loveliest man just so warm and welcoming. He had such an impact on everyone pupils and staff. Mukesh you will be dearly missed <3 thoughts and prayers are with close friends and family xx

Mukesh – what a man! The most kindest, humble, fair and loving person. Mukesh was just such a peaceful and calm presence at work and had this incredible ability to know just what to do and what to say. He was just full of joy, love, light and laughter and words just can’t describe how much he’ll be missed. I feel so honoured to have known him and am so grateful for the impact he made upon me. Lovely Mukesh – I had the pleasure of only knowing you for a short time when I started Barnfield. I will always remember the kindness he showed me and how he helped to put my mind at ease. Mukesh was the kindest, the nicest the most brilliant teacher and colleague. He was full of joy and smiles. He was determined that children should enjoy school, he was innovative, a listening ear, an advice giver, super supportive, a great teller of stories. Always gave his best to the school and the children. And a good, good friend.

I was devastated to hear about the passing of Mukesh. Mukesh was the kind of person who made things better just by being there. He was always so calm, cool and collected. When I first moved to London and was navigating the ups and downs of teaching……and adulting, he took me under his wing with quiet generosity and unshakeable calm. His support during that time meant more than I probably ever expressed. It wasn’t the big things, just a friendly gesture here or a kind word there. Whether he was helping out behind the scenes or energising the room as the king of the mic at a school event,  he brought enthusiasm, patience, and a deep sense of care to everything he did. He had a gift for connecting with people—genuinely and without fuss. I feel lucky to have known him, and I know I’m not alone in that. His family should, and I’m sure do, feel exceptionally proud of the incredible legacy he leaves behind, not just in stories and memories, but in the way he helped shape so many lives. Mukesh was a remarkably kind , calm and positive person whom I feel honoured to have worked with for so many years. He brought smiles and joy to everyone around him and always talked so lovingly about his family. I hope the family take comfort in knowing how important they were to him. Sending much love. X

Mukesh, a proper sunshine human. I got to see him mesmerise and delight roomfuls of children (and us adults!) with just a scrap of old newspaper, his brilliant brain and his big, beautiful curious heart. Even years after I left the school I still often try to channel my inner Mukesh if I’m ever feeling anxious and wish to be calm and cool. I feel so lucky to have known such a warm and wonderful man. Lots of love to his family and all who are missing him. 

My condolences firstly to Maya and to his boys, who Mukesh always spoke so highly of. I had the pleasure of working in Barnfield, like so many, with Mukesh. For five years, we would take the children swimming every Thursday on the coach. Every week was a laugh. What a contagious laugh and smile. I will never forget how much of a great listener and advice giver he was. Always telling me to do whatever felt right in my heart. He was always about family and love. I’ve never met anyone whose stories I loved listening to so much. A happy humble soul, full of adventure and who loved life. Thank you Mukesh, for every conversation we ever had. I will always think of you fondly, through our memories you live on and our hearts. Never ever forgotten Mr G x

Mukesh was a real gentleman. Always had time for others, considerate, gentle and positive. He was a wonderful colleague and a brilliant example to pupils of what it means to be a good person in words and deeds. It was a pleasure to work with him. Love and best wishes to his family.

It was a joy to work with Mukesh at Barnfield – such a caring gentleman. I have so many happy memories with one being him dressed in his Mr International outfit with that smile. He lit up a room with his smile and his support and words of wisdom were always appreciated. His kindness and zest for life touched everyone. Mukesh was such a wonderful man. He was always so friendly and I loved hearing about all his amazing holidays with his lovely family. He worked so hard and was so dedicated to his job. The children in every class loved him! And we especially loved him on the mic at International Evening! It’s hard to imagine a life without Mukesh in it. He was a true gentleman and our very dear friend. We miss him so much. We are blessed with lovely memories of him that we will always hold close to our hearts and will always treasure. Taken far too early from us we had so much more to do together.
