Our tribute to Mummy Hussain On behalf of Queen Esther Band and the Kushimo family Mummy Hussain was a strong member of Queen Esther band and a mother that we cannot forget. She was a treasurer for many years, she was trustworthy and a good advisor. She was always there for us as a mother. She was full life, she loved to dance and she will forever be remembered in our hearts. Our condolences to the entire family, may the almighty God uphold and comfort the family. TRIBUTE TO OUR AUNTY FOR LIFE AKA MUMMY LONDON.  COMING TO TERMS WITH THE REALITY THAT YOU ARE NO MORE HAS INDEED BEEN TOUGH FOR ME.  I RECALL IN 1975 WHEN YOU BROUGHT HOME YOUR LATE HUSBAND FOR BURIAL, BABALOKE TRIED IN VAIN TO PREVAIL ON YOU TO RETURN TO NIGERIA BECAUSE THERE SEEMED TO BE NOBODY TO SUPPORT YOU WITH THE CHILDREN IN LONDON. BUT YOUR MIND WAS MADE UP TO GO BACK. IT WAS INDEED A LARGE SHOE TO STEP INTO. HOWEVER, WITH YOUR STRENGTH OF CHARACTER, YOU TOOK UP THE RAISING OF JIDE AND FEMI SINGLEHANDEDLY FOR YEARS WITHOUT ALLOWING THE PRESSURE TO WEIGH YOU DOWN.  AUNTY, YOU WERE SUCH A LOVING SOUL NOT ONLY TO YOUR CHILDREN AND US ,YOUR SIBLINGS BUT ALSO TO ALL WHO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF KNOWING YOU. YOU WERE THE ANCHOR THAT HELD US TOGETHER, YOU WERE INDEED OUR MATRIACH.  UNLIKE MANY NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA, YOU OPENED YOUR HOME TO MY WIFE AND I WHEN WE ARRIVED IN THE UK IN 1977 FOR FURTHER STUDIES UNTIL I LEFT IN 1980 AND MY FAMILY IN 1982. OUR FIRST CHILD, BIOLA WAS CONCEIVED AND NURTURED UNDER YOUR CARE AND GUIDANCE.  AUNTY, YOU WERE AN EXEMPLARY BUILDER WHO MODELLED LIFE THROUGH YOUR SELFLESS DESIRE TO SEE EVERYONE AROUND YOU GROW AND SUCCEED.  YOUR HOME WAS OPENED TO ALL AND YOU ENSURED THAT EVERYONE WHO VISITED OR STAYED FELT WELCOMED. BUT YOU WILL NOT TOLERATE LAZINESS OR UNCLEANNESS. SOME REGARD YOU AS TOUGH BUT BENEATH THAT SURFACE IS YOUR DESIRE TO SEE US TURN GOOD.  YOU SHOWED US RESILIENCE, CONTENTMENT, LOVE AND ABSOLUTE DEPENDENCE ON GOD. ON THE DOMESTIC FRONT, YOU WERE AN EXCELLENT CATERER. YOUR CHINESE RICE, JOLOFF RICE, EFO RIRO AND EFO EGUSI WERE A DELIGHT ANYDAY. MY WIFE AND I OWED OUR EXPERTISE IN THE KITCHEN TO YOUR TUTELAGE.  AND WHEN IT COMES TO SOCIALS, YOU CANNOT CARRY LAST. YOU WERE A MERRY WOMAN WHO LOVE TO DANCE. EVEN WHEN YOU WERE CHALLENGED BY ILLNESS, YOU REMAINED RESOLUTE AND DETERMINED TO CARRY ON WITH UNUSUAL COURAGE FOR ALMOST 13 ODD YEARS. THANK YOU AUNTY FOR YOUR LOVE AND SELFLESS CARE. Tribute to My Beloved Aunt (Mummy London as we all call her) One of my fondest childhood memories is the excitement that surrounded her visits to Nigeria from London, while my grandfather was still alive. She never came empty-handed. Her nephews and nieces eagerly looked forward to the thoughtful gifts she brought, not because of their material value, but because they reflected her love, generosity, and constant remembrance of us, even from afar.  Farewell, dear Aunt.
