Neville B

Neville and I grew up together. He, his cousins, Vere, Sheila and I played together, because their grandmother and my mom were very good friends. When Neville emigrated to emigrated to England it was a sad thing for all of us children in our close knit community. After that we lost contact intil a year or so ago, when we were reunited through his cousin Vere. The years have gone by so fast, with all of us raising our families and life has now made us the “new old” people However our memories never grow old, to me and my husband Denzil he is still the same “Cocou” Soon God will resurrect him and we will all be ruinited again. Running, dancing, climbing, laughing because we would have all been return to our “youthful vigor” Job 33:35. I would like to pay tribute to my dear cousin Neville aka Coucou. Neville and his brother Richard grew up in Thickets St Philip with my two brothers Vere and Stephen who were all mothered by our maternal grand mother Ottoline Stuart. Those days were unique with us always enjoyingthe outdoors and the spring at Three Houses (now a public park) We all migrated to the UK in the late 1960s and our journey of family togetherness continued with us visiting each other’s homes, eating, laughing and sharing especially our love of music. I want to especially wish his brothers Richard, Sam and David my deepest sympathies as you mourn the loss of your beloved brother who was largereally than life. To his beloved Fiz. .his life partner and their three children Shirin, Jonathan, and Nicole….please know that you will always have the memories of your beloved Neville to take you through the challenging times. Growing up I saw him regularly as he only lived on the next road but didn’t see him a lot in my adult life as we had both left South Norwood. Neville was always cheerful and will be sadly missed by myself + many others. May his soul rest in peace. Gone but will never be forgotten.

I was sad to hear of the passing of someone I remember as a child back in the 70’s, Sunday school,6.30special,boys brigade at the London City mission Hall on portland Road. Mark Glass. I’ve been lucky enough to have known and worked with Neville for 27 years and we’ve shared highs and lows together. In work and out over the years. We didn’t always see each other but he was always one call away and if he could help he would. What a lovely man he was and missing a damn good Glazier. I last spoke to him before his battery died and was wearing a covid mask in hospital and we were laughing because I couldn’t hear much, that’s the man he was. Always cool unless you upset him. Nev, you were the most kindest man I knew. You were a big part of my childhood and my adulthood. I wish I said thank you more, for all you did for me, from collecting me and Shirin early hours in the morning from a club to being there for me when I needed it the most. My last message to you was, I wanted to see you in the new year because family and chosen family are so important, and at Christmas we realised we missed you all so much. It still feels surreal that Neville has gone to be with the Lord – gone but he will never be forgotten. Richard, Sam, David, Fiz, Shirin, Jonathan, Nicole and the grandchildren; you all carry a part of Neville in your being and his legacy will continue through you all. This time has been one that has come upon the family unexpectedly we know that at some point we will leave this earth but this is definitely too soon for our brother Nev you have left a big space in the family but we will make sure it is filled with your spirit of life and love and memories you have left with us.
