About Olufemi's Life

Femi was born on 26th February 1952, at Oshogbo, now Capital of Oshun State, Nigeria.

He went to St. Mary’s Primary School Oshogbo from 1958- 61. When he later went to join his parents at Lagos he then attended the Salvation Army Primary School, Ebute Metta, Lagos.

He moved to his hometown: Iludun-Oro where he attended St. James’ Primary School from 1963 -67. He would always collect prizes during his time in school.

His Father: Mr. James Olawale Malomo of Ile Olota, Iludun-Oro died 6/11/67.

Femi attended Omupo Grammar School between 1969-73., and the then: Kwara State College of Technology between Oct. 74-April 1977. Following this Femi gained admission to a famous Northern University. However, his letter of admission was torn to shreds (because of his place of origin), by an officer meant to register him with impunity!

He courageously returned home and was supported and got a job at the Union Bank. He was able to work and save, and with some support travelled to London in 1980. By this time, he had met and married his wife Moji Malomo, nee Ogunbayo, at the age 27. Femi left Nigeria in February 1980 ahead of his wife, who later joined him with their first-born Tolulope, in December 1980.

Femi was very business minded and, in the early 80s, would travel to countries such as Singapore and Taiwan on business trips. Femi ran several businesses over the years and was very well known and liked in the local community.

Femi’s last trip to Nigeria was in October 2004 to attend his mother’s funeral.

Femi valued education and had always wanted to complete his MBA. In 2006 he began to study for his MBA, he was doing very well with this and really enjoyed studying again. Unfortunately, he was unable to complete this due to the catastrophic stroke that he had at the end of that year. Despite his stoke, which was very debilitating, Femi’s strong character is what led him to survive another 17 years, against all odds. He remained positive throughout this time, trusted in the Lord, and fiercely tried to maintain his independence as much as possible, often to the amazement of the health and social care professionals that he came in to contact with.

Femi is survived by his wife, 7 children and 3 grandchildren.
