We have such fond memories of socialising with Ray and Brigitte after he left Easyjet. Ray was a consummate gentleman, highly accomplished yet always humble. We will miss his travel stories and sharp wit. Our hearts go out to Brigitte, whom he loved so deeply, and we offer our sincere condolences to his family during this sad time. Marguerite and Francois
I worked with Ray at easyJet on the journey from 6 planes to 120 (when he left the company). And what a journey it was – great fun, a great sense of achievement and exasperating at the same time. I well remember the first Board meeting I attended; it ran for some 8 hours with Ray ‘resigning’ twice and Stelios ‘firing’ him at least once only for it all to end with a united anticipation for ‘what’s next?’. Together they accomplished a multiple of their initial objective and changed the lives of so many – certainly mine. Ray was a wonderful guy and leaves a treasured legacy.
My condolences to family and friends. I would like to take a moment to remember Ray, our former CEO and boss who left a lasting mark on all of us who had the privilege to work with him. He was a truly remarkable leader—very kind, thoughtful, exceptionally intelligent, and always kind and respectful with everyone around him. His vision, determination, and leadership played a fundamental role in shaping easyJet into the airline it is today. But beyond the success of the company, what many of us remember most is the way he led people. He led with integrity, with calm confidence, and with a genuine belief in his team. He listened, he encouraged, and he inspired us to be better professionals every day. Moreover he was a very good person. Working with him was more than just a professional experience—it was a lesson in leadership, humility, and respect. Many of us learned invaluable lessons from his style of leading a company and from the example he set every single day. His legacy lives not only in the success of the airline, but also in the people who were fortunate enough to learn from him. I will always be grateful for that experience. I was fortunate enough to work for Ray during the early easyJet days. An inspiring leader, kind and witty boss and real Gentleman. Thank you for the opportunities Ray. Gone but most certainly never forgotten. Ruth xx
