As a kid I always looked up to Tom, not just because I was only 11, but because he was a worldly wise approachable man and as an army cadet I looked on him as an experienced soldier, we would go to him and ask for his advice on soldiering, due to his rank and time served, he always shared his sound knowledge, later In my life I would chat with him and Gwen when I was around their house or when I saw him in the pub and we would always have a laugh, I saw him working hard and later build his own business and that showed that he was truly a Warrior. He will be missed.
My memories of Dear Tom A softly spoken man, a real gentleman, Tom was always very smart, he was always very kind & he always had time for a chat – such a lovely Man x Lolly (Lorraine) is my oldest friend for over 52 years, I was 9 years old when I first was introduced to the McLucas Clan, Tom & Gwen, Lorraine’s siblings : Michelle, Tommy ‘jnr’, Frances & James. Tom & Gwen’s home for me was always a fun home, along with so many, many memories, always feeling part of the family & over the years seeing Tom’s family grow as it is today, Tom’s lovely family, his legacy x God bless you Tom you will be so missed ❤️ Thinking of you all with our love Carol x Jeff, Dean, Danny & family x
My first and most memorable CSM. Sending condolences to the family. Rest in Peace Sir.
On behalf of my Dad’s sister Aunty Anne. I remember Tom as a little lad always in trouble with the local farmer for scrumping apples of his trees, Tom was always my Hero, I loved him so much, he would always make sure Harry and I were home on time before my dad and mum missed us. One thing Tom hated, and that was having to look after his young brother, he couldn’t get into mischief if Harry was tagging along with him. I always felt safe when Tom was around, so when he told me he was moving out of our home, and that he would be moving in with Gwen’s family. I felt lost a little because I knew I would miss him. So the day he told me he was getting married, I couldn’t believe he would ever do that, but he did, he married Gwen, and I was a bride’s maid, I was dressed in a lovely pink dress, lovely pink satin shoes, and I had a lovely pair of lace gloves, my hair was dressed in the latest fashion, it was called flick-ups. The wedding went well, Gwen looked beautiful, and Tom looked Handsome.
My first impressions of uncle Tommy, was a soft spoken, well dressed, lol,I have to say,a east end gangster comes to mind.As I didn’t have much to do with Tommy as a child, but he was a kind man,a gentleman, loving husband and father and he will be missed, not just by family, but by everyone, especially his sister, that has a broken heart now. So RIP uncle Tommy your memories will live on.
The first time I was introduced to Tom’s dad (for me that was his name) was when myself and Tom junior where both in the territorial army together. His dad was a sergeant in a different company I should have known that – the surname should have been a big giveaway I always remember him being quietly spoken. Now I might have got this wrong (apologies if I have) it’s been a long time but I remember when he used to drink his pint he always had his little finger sticking out that always made me laugh. The picture of him in his uniform is how I will always remember him . Always smart and proud RIP Thomas (toms dad )
Tom was a gentleman whose values, beliefs and humour will be remembered by friends and family alike. Generous and stoic, he was one of a kind. As kids, we must have tried his patience, but you never would have known it until one day, Lorraine and I played ‘the power of love’ by Frankie goes to Hollywood on repeat about 35 times. Tom came up the stairs, stood at the bedroom door and just looked at us, we knew ☺️ Dear Tom, we raise our glasses to you, your legacy lives on through the love and values you lived by and installed in us all.
I always made time for Tom, or should I say Paul..lol. growing up with your family, I thought he looked like, ‘Paul Newman’…that I use to call him Paul all the time. We shared a lot of laughs together. He was a beautiful person and what is beautiful never dies ❤️ xx
