About Virginia's Life

Virginia “Nina” Roukounakis passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2023 at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough after a brief and sudden battle with cancer. Virginia “Nina” was born on February 8th 1939 in the city of Ismailia, Egypt, to Nicholas A. Aspras and Irene (Poulara) Aspras.  The youngest of three siblings, Nina attended school there until the family relocated to Greece in 1961.

In January of 1966, Nina married Emmanuel M. Roukounakis in Manchester, England, and they then made the southeast suburbs of London their permanent home.

Nina is predeceased by her beloved husband, Emmanuel (1986), her parents Irene (1992) and Nicholas (2000) and brother, Anthony (2012). She is survived by her sister, Foula (Skevofylax), her children Irene (spouse: Michael) and Michael (spouse: Iliana) and three granddaughters Emmanuella, Ioanna and Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nina’s honour to Cancer Research UK.
