Walter John Alexander Colman

John and I were good friends at Shooter Hill Grammar School n the 1950s. He excelled where I struggled in athletics, rugby and maths. Our friendship continued intermittently after we left school and later after our marriages and my emigration to Australia. Memories of John and Pat and Emily’s kindness in keeping me in touch will always be remembered. From Steve in Melbourne, Australia

John, with me, Steve Pledge and others had many amusing times at Shooters Hill Grammar School . There were happy days. I also met a few times with my brother Mick and John in Blackheath. My best wishes to the family. Rob Crocker from Market Harborough

As an Art student with Sally at St Martin’s in London I was very grateful to be welcomed on many occasions by Pat and John at their wonderful home in Shooters hill road. John was always very friendly , warm in his manner and interesting to talk to. He represented some thing strong and stable at a time in my life when I desperately needed such a male figure. Ever since that time his consistent friendly and intelligent communication always made me feel valued and loved as Sally’s friend. I have been lucky enough to carrying on knowing him for about 40 years and even found on a recent visit a man of surprising insight and a deeply caring thoughtful person. He was a very attractive man and right from the start I felt an affection; had a soft spot for him and still feel fond of all the many memories of his steadfastness. He will be greatly missed and I send my sympathies and condolences as you as a family have to let go of a very special man. Prayers and all good wishes and love to all of you.
