Norris Winsley Andrew at the age of 94, sadly passed away in hospital on 3 June 2023. He will be missed by his children and grand children, who loved him dearly and were around him until he passed away.
Norris came to England via a boat in 1956, he said it was the longest journey that he had ever made in his life. He wanted a better life for himself and his family back in Grenada. It wasn’t long before he met Joycelyn who became his wife and between them they raised five children, Jill, Sandra, Richard, Miriam and Simon.
He was not afraid of hard work. At first he was a baker, for J. Lyons and Company, where he worked diligently supporting his family for many years. Later on he came to work at John Lewis Department Store in Oxford Street as a Porter. He loved being a Dad and at every opportunity he would take his children to corporate functions there and show them off.
Generosity was his middle name and this was something that he did to the end of his life, he always made sure that his family and friends were provided for.
Those he loved, loved him back and found him to be very loyal, he never forgot them wherever in the world they were, he would always try to find out how they were doing. Sadly, as he got older he was not able to do as much as he would have liked.
His faith helped him to become a better person to pursue a healthier life. He gave up smoking as his faith took centre stage. He became more tolerant and peace-loving. He loved the Lord and would spend time daily reading his bible. He liked to fellowship with his church members and faithfully attended meetings several times a week.
He loved his Grenadian heritage and never forgot his roots.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all those that knew him.
