Zbigniew Broniszewski

 

I met Z as many referred to him who could not quite pronounce his name in Hammersmith while putting an advert for workers on the notice board. He wanted to start working as quickly as possible so I took him that same morning to a job where we were digging out a basement and left him with the other workers. When I came back between them they had nearly dug down to the Northern line which ran under the building. Zbigniew was a wonderful worker who gave everything he could. I cannot remember him being late or making any excuse not to turn up for work. What drove him throughout his life was his family. On his strong shoulders, he carried the responsibility for giving them the best opportunity in their lives. He succeeded. I have met some of the Polish war heroes who fought at Monte Casino in the last war, Zbigniew could easily have been one of them. No challenge was too much for him. Given the chance, he would have played his heart out for Manchester United, he was a out and out winner and a wonderful person. Miss you. Chef André
