About Blackley Cemetery
Blackley Cemetery and Crematorium opened in 1953 and is Manchester City Council's newest cemetery. Located in the Blackley district with views of the Pennines, it is home to Manchester's only council-operated crematorium, which has been in operation since 1959. The cemetery features the Woodlands natural burial area, a Memorial Chapel with a Book of Memory, and regular sightings of deer and other wildlife. It is the main cremation facility for Manchester residents and houses two side chapels (60 seats each) and a large main chapel (300 seats).
Grave leases are provided from 99 years, with extensions usually available from the cemetery.
