About Chadderton Cemetery
Chadderton Cemetery is one of Oldham's two Grade II listed cemeteries, having opened on 1 August 1857. Designed by N G Pennington, it covers approximately 13 hectares on Middleton Road and features a Gothic gate lodge and a First World War sandstone cross. The cemetery holds a dedicated Muslim burial section and has approximately 20 years of additional capacity available on adjacent land. The original Anglican chapel survives on site but is currently used for storage rather than services.
Grave leases are provided from 99 years, with extensions usually available from the cemetery.
Anyone can be buried at Chadderton Cemetery, but grave prices depend on residency. Lower resident rates typically apply to families living in Oldham, with higher fees for non-residents. Residency rules are complex so please check with your funeral arranger.
