About Greenacres Cemetery
Greenacres Cemetery is Oldham's other Grade II listed historic cemetery, having also opened on 1 August 1857. Covering approximately 17 hectares on Greenacres Road, it was designed by N G Pennington and enjoys panoramic views of the Pennines from its elevated position. Architectural features include a two-storey stone gabled gatehouse. The three original mortuary chapels have been demolished. It is one of Oldham's most historically and visually significant burial grounds.
Grave leases are provided from 99 years, with extensions usually available from the cemetery.
Anyone can be buried at Greenacres Cemetery, but grave prices depend on residency. Lower resident rates typically apply to families living in Oldham, with higher fees for non-residents. Residency rules are complex so please check with your funeral arranger.
